PSA: Saw a brick facade on a new apartment building downtown that's already cracking
I was walking past that big new complex on 5th Street yesterday and the brickwork on the south wall has hairline cracks running through the mortar joints in a perfect grid pattern. Looks like they didn't use any control joints or the mix was way too hard, and it's only been up since spring. Anyone know a good way to fix that without tearing the whole wall out?

Ugh, saw that too. Isn't that the building with the weird metal trim? My buddy's place had the same thing happen, and they had to inject some epoxy stuff into all the cracks. Total mess.

That epoxy fix is crazy expensive. My cousin paid over five grand for a similar job last year.

Five grand is a lot, but I read that the epoxy stuff has to be a certain grade for structural fixes, which jacks up the price. The material itself is supposedly pretty cheap, but the labor and equipment to put it in right costs a fortune. It's one of those jobs that looks simple but really isn't.
