Took me 5 hours to figure out a simple corner pattern

I was laying a herringbone pattern on a corner wall last week and kept messing up the cuts. I thought I had it mapped out in my head but after 3 tries I still had gaps. Turns out my layout line was off by a quarter inch from the start. Has anyone else spent way too long on something that should have been straightforward?

My husband spent an entire Saturday trying to straighten a single picture frame on the wall. It's funny how one little mistake can ripple through everything else you do.

You ever get so mad at a project you just walk away for a whole day? I did that with a closet shelf once. Measured wrong, cut the bracket too short, and then spent two hours trying to fudge it with a bracket extender I bought at the hardware store. Turns out the extender was a dollar more than a new bracket. Ended up just buying a new one and the whole thing took ten minutes. Sometimes you gotta know when to quit.

That "ripple through everything" part you said @alice928 is way too real lol. I once spent a full afternoon trying to fix a crooked shelf bracket and ended up taking half the wall down with it. Ended up having to patch drywall and repaint the whole corner, which turned a 15 minute job into a weekend project. Herringbone corners are brutal though, I've definitely thrown a tape measure across the room over those stupid angle cuts.
