Tried those new plastic rebar chairs on a job last month and they snapped under the first load of brick

Switched back to the old metal wire ones after the plastic ones crumbled on a 90 degree day in Phoenix and I had to redo the whole pour, has anyone else had better luck with a different brand?

The plastic ones from GreenLine failed on me last summer when the temp hit 95 in Atlanta. I had 4 of them snap right in the middle of a slab pour and it cost me half a day to fix it. Ended up using the old red metal ones from Southern Wire, they bent a little but held up fine through the whole thing.

The old metal ones always seem to find a way to hold up. Had a similar thing with plastic chairs on a retaining wall job in Colorado, they just got brittle in the cold. Back to metal for me too.

Metal's real charm is you can heat it and bend it back into shape on site.
