Milk was 40 cents more at the corner store near downtown, so I drove 15 minutes to save $2.80

I live right by the old A&P building in Cedar Rapids, and I've been grabbing my weekly stuff at the convenience mart there out of habit. Yesterday I finally paid attention to the receipts and realized I was paying way over for basics, like a gallon of milk at $4.29 when the Aldi across town has it for $3.89. I did the math on a full cart of about 20 items and the difference was like $14 just for walking a few blocks less. So I took the drive with my kid (she loves the car ride anyway) and stocked up on pantry stuff plus a big bag of frozen veggies. The whole trip took an extra 25 minutes but I got almost the same groceries for a visible chunk less. Has anyone else done the store switch based on one receipt audit? Tell me your closest cheap store wins, I'm trying to build a better route for the month.

Ha! Math checks out, but that $14 savings only counts if you ignore the gas money and your time.
