Rant: My $20 rice cooker turned into a science experiment after 3 months
I got one of those basic green ones from the discount store. Worked fine for rice. Then I left some rice in there overnight. The next morning it was like a concrete block. I soaked it, scrubbed it, even used a butter knife. The thing is now a permanent fixture on my counter. I just cook around it. Anyone else got a kitchen tool they can't get rid of because it's fused to itself?

Oh man, I've got a spatula that's been stuck to the inside of my slow cooker for like two years now. I left it in there after stirring some chili and the whole thing got baked on. Every time I use the slow cooker I just pretend the spatula is a permanent feature, like a built in scraper. The handle is all melted and warped but it still works. I figure one day I'll replace the whole slow cooker just to get rid of it.

My buddy Dave did basically the same thing with a wooden spoon in his instant pot. He was making a pot roast and just left the spoon in there, forgot about it, and now the handle is this charred little nub sticking out from under the lid. He calls it his "pot roast paddle" and swears it adds flavor somehow. The weird part is he actually got attached to it, like he thinks it's bad luck to remove it. Last time I was over he was scraping the sides with it and going "see, perfect fit.

Sounds like he's convinced himself it's a lucky charm more than a cooking tool." @kimw57 you've officially joined the "permanent kitchen utensil club" too, huh?
