Rant: My rice cooker was sabotaging my grocery budget for 2 years

I kept buying those $2.50 microwave rice pouches because my stovetop rice always came out mushy or burnt. Last week I finally read the manual for my $15 rice cooker from Target and found a little line about rinsing the rice until the water runs clear. Tried it with a 5 pound bag of jasmine rice that cost me $6, and suddenly every batch is fluffy and perfect. Now I'm making 2 cups of rice for about 30 cents instead of dropping $5 a week on pouches. Anyone else got a kitchen gadget they were using wrong the whole time?
