Shoutout to the deli counter at the Food4Less on 8th Street for selling me a 2lb bag of chicken leg quarters for $3.50. That's a whole protein for a week.

Ever try to stretch a deal like that? I got a pack of chicken thighs last month and made a big pot of soup, then shredded the rest for tacos and a casserole. It's crazy how far a few bucks can go if you're willing to get a little creative in the kitchen. That's the kind of win that makes the whole grocery trip feel better.

Man, my buddy did something just like @felixm29's idea with a pork shoulder last week and ate for days.

Consider freezing individual portions before you even cook them. That way you're not stuck eating the same thing all week. I'll split a big pack like that into three or four freezer bags right when I get home. Then I just pull one out the night before I need it. It breaks up the monotony and keeps the meat fresh longer. Makes that $3.50 stretch even further without the burnout.

That "win" feeling is pretty short lived when you're eating the same chicken for five days straight. It just gets boring and feels like you're punishing yourself for being on a budget. Doesn't that make it harder to stick to cooking at home?
