Switched from instant rice to cooking regular rice in big batches

I used to buy those little pouches of instant rice because I thought it was cheaper than the hassle of cooking. Turns out a 5 pound bag of regular white rice costs about $3 and lasts me close to two months. I just cook a big pot on Sunday and toss it in the fridge for the week. Has anyone else noticed their grocery bill drop after ditching the instant stuff?

I used to think the opposite actually, I was all about those little pouches because I figured regular rice was too much work. But you're totally right, that one pot on Sunday trick saves so much time and money. I started doing it a few months back and my grocery bill definitely went down.

Oh for sure @green.noah, the pouch markup is ridiculous once you do the math on bulk rice. I’m team Sunday prep now too.

Funny enough, I used to swear by those pouches too because I thought regular rice was too annoying to deal with. But then I actually did the cost comparison and realized how much I was throwing away on convenience. Now I'm with you guys on the Sunday prep, just a big batch and I'm set for the week.
