The day I stopped boiling my rice like pasta
I was making rice for the 5th time that week and it came out mushy again. My coworker from the Philippines glanced over and said 'girl, you're drowning it' and showed me the finger method. Now I just use 1 knuckle of water above the rice and it's perfect every time.

Oh man I was the same way. I used to dump rice in a pot with way too much water and just boil it off like pasta. It always came out either too sticky or too crunchy. Then my grandma showed me the finger trick and I felt like such a fool for not knowing it my whole life. It really does work every time now.

Haha @charles836, my buddy tried that finger trick and still burned his rice somehow.

Man my sister tried that and ended up with rice that tasted like burnt plastic somehow.
