Tried a bag of dried beans instead of canned for my chili

They were way cheaper, like 75 cents a pound, but I didn't soak them long enough. The chili was still kinda crunchy after 2 hours of simmering. Anyone have a foolproof soaking trick for pinto beans?

My grandma always soaks hers overnight in salt water. They come out perfect every time.

Honestly, is crunchy chili that bad? @johnson.river's grandma probably has it down, but I just boil the heck out of mine for an extra hour. Works fine.

Tbh matthewmiller's extra boil works, but rushing beans is like skipping sleep, it just catches up with you later.
