Found a template for demand letters that actually got a response

Had a client who was owed $2,300 from a subcontractor that ghosted for 4 months. I tried the usual scary legal jargon letters and got nothing. Then a paralegal friend told me to keep it short, personal, and mention the specific date and amount owed. First letter I sent that way got a check in 10 days. Anybody else have luck with a less-is-more approach on collection letters?

That 2,300 number is specific and people can't argue with it.

The date trick is gold. People respond way better when you make it feel like a real person is asking instead of some lawyer bot. I always throw in a "Hey, just checking in" line and it works more than half the time.

Funny you mention that... I tried a friendly email once and got a signed photo back instead of a check.
