Hot take: LLCs are way overrated for solo landscapers like me
I see so many people in this sub pushing LLCs right away, but after 3 years running my own landscaping company, I finally dropped mine and went back to sole proprietor. The paperwork and annual fees in my state cost me about $800 a year, and I never once had a client sue me or even threaten to. My insurance policy covers my liability way better than an LLC ever could, and the tax setup is simpler now. When I talked to my accountant about it, she said most solo guys don't need an LLC unless they have employees or big assets to protect. I get that it works for some people, but has anyone else found the LLC hype is mostly just fearmongering from lawyers?

Have you checked what your liability insurance really covers compared to an LLC? My insurance agent laughed when I asked about upgrade options, saying most policies already handle what an LLC does if you're a single operator. I dropped my LLC and just keep my insurance up to date with no regrets.

You ever run the numbers on what your state charges for LLC paperwork after the first year? I did the same thing last year and my accountant basically told me the same thing, it's mainly a money grab for small solo guys like us.
