Just found out my contractor agreement was missing a key clause
I've been using the same basic contract template for 3 years until a client ghosted me on a $2,800 payment in Austin last month. A lawyer buddy pointed out I never added a late fee or arbitration clause, and now I'm out the cash. Anyone else get burned by skipping the fine print on their own forms?

Fine print insurance" is a good way to put it, I used to skip that stuff too but not anymore.

Man that stings. A buddy of mine calls those missing details "the fine print insurance" and I learned that the hard way too, but for a smaller gig. I had a customer stiff me on a 400 dollar patio job and all I had was a handshake and a text thread. Lawyer told me the same thing, no late fee clause, no arbitration, basically I was fighting with my hands tied. It's like building a house without a foundation, looks fine till the wind blows. Now I use a template from a legal site, plus I added a "no payment means you get my gnome collection" clause as a joke, but it actually makes me feel better. Still, 2800 bucks gone is rough, hope you find a way to recoup some of that.
