My CPA in Denver said to stop paying my buddy cash under the table, and now I owe $4,200 in back payroll tax
I've been running my landscaping LLC for about 3 years and always paid my one helper in cash because it felt easier and he liked it that way. My new CPA looked at my books and said "you're not saving money, you're just hiding a liability" and made me register for payroll, which now has me on the hook for about $4,200 in back taxes and fees. Is there any way to file for penalty relief when you fix this yourself before an audit, or am I just eating the whole bill?
