That $600 trademark application that got me nowhere
I paid a lawyer $600 to file a trademark for my snack business name back in March. They sent it through and I thought I was all set. Turns out they didn't search the database well enough and another company had a similar name in the same class. Trademark office rejected it three months later and I lost all that money. Has anyone else had a lawyer miss something obvious like that?

It's everywhere now... you pay for "expertise" and they skip the basic stuff, like a mechanic changing your oil but forgetting the filter. @cameron_hernandez69 nailed it about trusting someone with your name and them not even doing the first step right. Feels like shortcuts are just the standard lately, no matter what you're paying for.

I used to think paying a lawyer was the only safe way to go with trademarks. Figured you were paying for their expertise to catch stuff like this. But hearing you lost $600 on a basic search mistake totally changed my mind. That's such a rookie error for them to miss, especially when you're trusting them with your business name. I would be furious if I paid someone and they didn't even do the first step right.
