That contract lawyer in Austin who called my templates 'toothless'
He flipped through my standard NDA and said the indemnity clause would fall apart in any real dispute. Took me 2 weeks to redo it with help, but now I actually read every line before I send stuff out. Anyone else get called out on boilerplate they thought was fine?

Toothless" is right, but templates still work fine for low stakes deals.

Agreeing with you @the_eric, and honestly, that's the sweet spot for most of us. Low stakes deals are where templates save your sanity, you know? They keep the basics covered without making you lawyer up over every comma. The "toothless" part only bites when someone tries to stretch a template into a high stakes mess, and that's where the real trouble starts. But for a quick lease or a simple contractor gig, I'd rather tweak a solid base than stare at a blank page, every single time.
