Can we talk about the time I accidentally bought a lamb's head?
I was on a trip to Marrakech and stopped at a market for some meat. The butcher there did not speak English, and my Arabic is just a few words. I pointed at what I thought was a leg of lamb, trying to mime cutting a steak. He nodded, then brought out this whole lamb's head from the back, eyes and all. I was so surprised I just paid for it, not knowing what else to do. A friendly local saw my face and laughed, then showed me how to roast it with spices. It turned out pretty good, but what a way to learn about different cuts. Now I stick to shops with pictures or bring a translation app for meat terms.

Did you eat the eyes? That's where I would have totally checked out. Just the thought of biting into one, that weird rubbery texture and the whole thing looking back at you. I don't care how good the spices are, some lines you just don't cross. I'd have been the person at that market just holding a bag with a head in it, completely frozen.
