I finally got to see the old butcher shop in my hometown after twenty years
I was back in Springfield last month and walked past Miller's Meats, the place my dad used to take me. They've turned the front into a fancy coffee bar now, and the main cutting room is just a small counter in the back. I remember watching them break down a whole side of beef on the big block when I was a kid, but now they only have a few pre-packed trays out. It felt strange seeing the space so different. Has anyone else seen their old local shops change like that?

Oh, that hits home. The hardware store from my childhood is now a cell phone repair place. You can still see the old floor tiles near the door, but that's about it.

Guess the floor tiles are the real hardware, @owens_blair.

Nah, I get what you mean but those tiles are just a ghost. The real hardware was the smell of cut wood and the guy who knew every nut and bolt in the place. A floor can't help you fix a leaky faucet, you know?
