Warning: don't use a cheap grinder for your first whole pig breakdown
I tried my buddy's $40 grinder vs a real Hobart for breaking down a 180 lb hog last Saturday. The cheap one clogged 3 times and overheated halfway through. You're better off just hand-cutting for a day than dealing with that headache.

Nah I gotta disagree here, my $40 grinder from Amazon handled a 150 lb hog just fine and I didn't even stop to clean it once. Sounds like you either got a dud or you were trying to grind through too much fat and sinew at once. A little patience goes a long way, and not everyone has $3k laying around for a Hobart.

My neighbor thought he was saving money with a $50 grinder from the hardware store. He got through maybe 40 pounds before the motor started smoking real bad. We ended up finishing the grind at 2 AM using my kitchen aid attachment which also almost died. Cheap grinders just can't handle that much meat in one go without begging for mercy.

Oh man, 40 pounds on a $50 grinder? That thing didn't stand a chance. It's like asking a goldfish to pull a sled. I bet that motor was screaming for help after pound 20, smoke was just its final goodbye. And the KitchenAid almost biting it too? That's a double whammy right there. Saving a few bucks upfront just means you're gonna spend twice the time and twice the headache later, isn't that always how it goes?
