I was ready to sign the lease on this place in Tempe, $1,850 a month, mostly because the kitchen had one of those fancy built-in espresso machines. My buddy Marcus came to look at it with me and just went, 'Bro, you work nights and you don't even drink coffee.' I stood there holding the brochure and it hit me that I was about to pay an extra $300 a month for a machine I'd use maybe twice. The real kicker was when the leasing lady said the machine was 'a lifestyle feature' and not a repair item, so if it broke I'd be on the hook. I walked out, went back to my $1,550 spot with the sad drip maker, and honestly I sleep fine. Has anyone else almost signed a lease for one dumb amenity they never use?
