Flea market find from 2012 still runs better than my new stuff

Found an old cassette deck at a swap meet outside Dallas for 12 bucks last fall. The belts were toast but my uncle fixed it in an hour, and it sounds warmer than the expensive digital rig I use now. Anyone else hold onto older tech because it just keeps working, or am I just stuck in the past?
