Serious question, did a Craigslist seller in Tucson give me the best $20 advice or just get lucky?
I drove out to look at a used chest freezer listed for $120, and the guy selling it in Tucson said flat out, "Don't pay more than 80, the seal's soft, you'll be re-gasketing it by summer." I ignored him, paid the full 120, and by July the thing was sweating and my electric bill jumped 30 bucks a month. The replacement gasket cost me $45 and two hours of cussing, so his free advice would have saved me about 85 dollars. Now I want to know, do you actually test seals and stuff when you buy used appliances, or do you just hope for the best like I did?
