That chat with my mechanic about brake pads changed how I shop
Last week my mechanic Dave in Columbus told me he sees the same cheap rotors warp every single time, and he laughed when I said I almost ordered a two pack online for $60. He pulled one out of the bin and showed me the rust already forming on the edge, said it takes 6 months before they start shaking. I had been so focused on the price tag that I forgot to think about what the part actually does every time I hit the pedal. Now I ask myself if the deal is saving money or just moving the cost to a headache later. Anyone else had a pro talk them out of a bargain that felt smart at the moment?

Dave sold you rotors, but a $60 pair lasting 6 months is still cheaper than his markup.
