Hit my 500th cabinet door and it messed with my head
I've been building cabinets solo for about 6 years now. Last week I finished my 500th door install on a kitchen remodel in Evanston. Didn't think much of it until I sat down and realized that's a lot of hinges and adjustments. Makes me wonder how many hours I've spent just squinting at reveals and gaps. Any of you keep track of your install numbers or is that just me being weird about milestones?

Read somewhere that the average pro builder hangs around 80 cabinets a year, so 500 is a serious milestone.

80 per year sounds like a number someone made up to feel better about their own pace. If you're organized and have a good crew, triple digits in a year isn't crazy at all. 500 is still impressive, but I'd guess the real pros are way above that 80 mark.

Buddy of mine hit 487 in a year and swore off cabinets after that.

Eh, but that 80 number sounds low for someone who's actually efficient.
