My uncle told me to never use pocket holes on a load bearing frame. He was right.

Remember my buddy who tried to save time on a deck repair. He used pocket holes on a support post because it was fast. The whole corner sagged within a year, just like your uncle warned. It’s one of those things you don’t question once you see it fail. @the_nancy is right about that basic promise idea, it’s like paying for a solid floor and getting weak spots instead. Some shortcuts just aren’t worth the risk.

Yeah, he's not wrong.

Totally agree! Saw the same thing happen at my old gym. They kept raising monthly fees but let half the treadmills stay broken for months. People just want what they paid for, you know? It feels like a basic promise that gets broken.

Yeah I've learned that lesson the hard way too. Tried saving twenty bucks on a cheap drill bit set once and ended up with three broken bits and a hole in my finger. Guess I paid the dumb tax on that one.
