Soft-close drawers back in 2018 vs now, night and day difference

I installed the same brand of soft-close slides in a kitchen remodel back in 2018 and another one last week in Tacoma. The old ones had a slow, lazy close that took about 4 seconds. The new ones snap shut in half that time, and the client actually complained they felt too fast. Has anyone else noticed manufacturers tightening up the dampening speed across the board?

Is it possible the newer slides just have a stiffer oil that gets sluggish in cold weather, since you were working in Tacoma in February? I noticed the same thing with a set I put in last spring, they were fine for a month and then got faster after the weather warmed up. Honestly, I've started ordering the older style slides from a surplus place just to avoid the complaint.
