Soft close hinges on my last job failed after 3 months

I dont get why everyone swears by those cheap soft close hinges from the big box store. Installed a set of 12 for a kitchen remodel in April and by July, 4 of them stopped closing smoothly. The customer was ticked and I had to drive 45 minutes back to replace them for free. Am I the only one who thinks spending a bit more on Blum or Salice is worth it from the start?

Hate to hear that man, nothing worse than a callback that eats your whole day. Been there with a job that turned into a headache over hardware that should've lasted years. You gotta stick with what works.

Stick with Blum or Grass hinges for residential work. Salice is fine for kitchens too but their regular hinges don't have the same adjustment range as Blum. If the customer insisted on cheap hinges I make them sign a waiver for the hardware. Saves you a 45 minute drive later.
