The day a laser level tried to murder me on site

Last Friday in Phoenix I had a brand new Bosch laser level slip off a ladder and nearly take out my head, bounced right off a maple cabinet door I just glued. The door was fine but the laser is toast, so I spent the rest of the afternoon squinting at a chalk line like it's 1985. Anyone else have a tool fail spectacularly and still get the job done?
