Vent: My first waterfall door took 14 hours - everyone says 4

Kept hearing guys online say a seamless waterfall miter takes 4 hours tops. Tried a white oak panel for a client in Portland. Shop drawings looked clean. But getting that 45 degree miter flush without any gap on a 7 foot tall piece? Took me 14 hours across two days. Had to re-cut three times. Anyone else find the real prep time for these joints way higher than what people claim?

Used to think people just complained too much about these joints. Watched a few videos, thought I had it figured out. Then I tried my first real one. That 45 degree miter on oak is a nightmare. You need perfect grain match, zero tearout, and the glue has to set just right or it shifts. Four hours is a lie. It's a solid day of work if you want it to look good.

Same pattern everywhere. Everyone rounds down the hard part.

Rounds down the hard part" - you see that in construction bids too?
