A visit to a coastal town taught me about salt air and cable corrosion
I just got back from a week at the beach and saw how salty air eats at metal fittings on the piers. It made me check all my outdoor connectors twice now. Do you do anything extra for installs near the ocean?

My uncle's place in Galveston, the rust never seemed that bad to me.

Wait, seriously? The salt air in Galveston eats through everything. How does your uncle keep it from rusting?

No way, that salt air is brutal! My cousin lived there for two years and his truck's frame looked like swiss cheese. Anything metal left outside gets eaten through. Maybe your uncle just got super lucky with his paint job or something, but that's not the norm at all. The whole island is basically a rust factory.
