Attic heat in Phoenix taught me to check vents before running cable

Last August I was up in a Mesa attic running cat6 and the heat was brutal, but the real problem was a collapsed flex vent blocking the path. I spent an extra 45 minutes rerouting because I didn't scout ahead. Anybody else do a quick dry run before committing to a pull, or just wing it like I did?

Man I learned that lesson the hard way too, now I always do a quick walk through with a flashlight before I even unspool the cable. Last time I found a rat nest and a busted duct in the same run, saved myself an hour of crawling around in 115 degree heat. It feels like a waste of time at first, but its way better than getting halfway through and having to backtrack. Plus you can spot any sharp metal edges that'll slice your jacket or the cable itself.
