Been stripping coax wrong for a decade, figured it out yesterday
I was helping a new guy on a job in Springfield and he asked why I always scored the cable so deep before stripping. I said that's just how you do it, right? He showed me his tool, a simple RG6 stripper, and the light pressure he used. Tried it on the next drop and got a perfect strip with no nicks in the center conductor. I've been over-tightening the blade for ten years. Anyone else have a basic tool trick they learned way too late?

Guess you finally learned not to treat coax like an enemy combatant.

Coax deserves a little tough love sometimes. A firm handshake never hurt a connector.

Honestly, I used to baby my coax cables way too much. This post totally changed how I think about it, a solid connection really does need a good push.

Reminds me of the time I fried a router.
