Had to pick between fiber and coax for a new apartment complex last month

I went with fiber because upload speeds were promised, but now I am dealing with a bunch of splices that keep failing on me, has anyone else had better luck with coax in multiunit builds?

Not fiber or coax directly, but a buddy of mine tried to save money by daisy-chaining drops in his fourplex. Worked great for about two weeks. Then one tenant lost internet every time someone in unit 3 ran the microwave. Turned out a splice in the wall shared conduit with the kitchen circuit. He spent a whole Saturday fishing new cable through the attic. Swore up and down he'd never skimp on pulling independent lines again.

Did you go with a single run or daisy-chain the drops? I had splices fail too until I switched to pulling dedicated lines from the MPOE to each unit.

Daisy-chained mine from a single run at first. Big mistake. One splice went bad behind a drywall patch and I spent a Saturday ripping out insulation trying to find it. Felt like a real genius holding a flashlight and swearing at a junction box. Since then I've pulled dedicated lines to each unit too. Way less headache when something inevitably goes wrong.
