Just heard a foreman say that half of his guys don't know how to properly terminate a coax connector

He was telling me that after 20 years in the field in Chicago, he still sees people leaving braid strands loose and then wondering why signal drops on rainy days, so what's the one connector mistake you see new guys make the most?

Raining on a fresh termination... oof, that's the classic, huh? The biggest thing I see is people not trimming the braid back enough or crushing the dielectric with the compression tool. Gotta leave that center conductor dead straight too, even a tiny kink will kill the signal eventually.

Spent an hour redoing a connector last week because I rushed it. Then tripped over the cable and did it all over again. Karma's a wet rag I guess.

Most guys forget to deburr the inner edge of the copper before seating the dielectric too.

Honestly I used to rush that step too until I lost signal mid-rain.
