Just tried heat shrink connectors instead of twisting and taping on a big job near Dallas

I have always done twists and tape. Been doing it 12 years. Last week I had 86 drops in a new office building and decided to try those heat shrink butt connectors on a real job. Man. The difference in how clean the panel looked after. No bulky tape lumps. Took maybe the same time once I got the hang of it. What finally changed my mind was seeing a co-worker's panel from a job he did 18 months ago in Plano. Everything still tight, no corrosion marks. Mine from 10 months ago already had some green on the tape. Has anyone else made the switch and regretted it later or is it all good?

Man, that green on the tape is exactly what scares me. Did you find the heat shrink held up better in the attic heat or was it mostly about looks?

Oh absolutely, the heat shrink is the way to go in an attic. That green tape will start peeling and getting gooey within a year when it's up there baking. I found that heat shrink tubing holds up way better against the constant temperature swings and doesn't leave that sticky mess behind when you eventually have to go back and fix something. It's not just about looks, though it does look a lot cleaner. If you're already up there in the heat, you might as well do it right the first time and save yourself the headache later.
