My old boss in Phoenix told me to never use zip ties on aerial drops

He said they would cut into the line over time and cause signal issues. I ignored him for years, but last month I had to redo a whole street in Mesa because the zip ties from a job three years back had chewed through the jacket on twelve RG6 lines. What's your go-to for securing drops on poles now?

Yep, that'll do it. I switched to waxed lacing cord after a mess like @ross.christopher's.

Learned that lesson the hard way too.

That "hard way" learning seems to be the only way some lessons stick.

My own dumb lesson involved a bundle of Cat5 in an attic. The zip ties were so tight they turned the cables into a set of tiny hourglasses. Now I just use those Velcro wraps. They’re a bit more of a pain to put on, but at least they don’t turn into plastic knives over the winter.
