Overheard a homeowner say cable installers are just 'wire hangers'

I was running a line in a new subdivision last week and heard a guy tell his friend we just clip wires and leave. Made me think about how nobody sees the hours of planning and drilling we do behind drywall. Anyone else get comments like that and just shake your head?

My cousin does cable installs and I've seen him map out runs for hours before even touching a drill. Folks just see the end result and assume it's all easy work.

Right, and people don't realize that mapping out runs is the whole job, @phoenix_singh25, you can't just start drilling holes and hope for the best. It's like they think we just throw wires at walls and call it a day.

Three hours mapping out a single wall cavity once because the homeowner decided to hang a TV in the exact worst spot possible, lol. People really don't get that running the cable is the easy part, figuring out where to run it is where the real skill comes in.
