Overheard a young installer say trenching is dead... I'm not so sure
I was at a supply house pickup last Wednesday and heard two guys arguing about trenching vs directional boring. One said nobody should trench anymore because it tears up yards and takes too long. But I've been doing this 20 years now and I still trench for most residential jobs, especially when the ground is soft and the distance is short. It's faster if you know what you're doing and it costs the customer less. Has anyone else run into this push away from trenching, or am I just old fashioned?

My cousin runs a pizza shop and says the same thing about people telling him wood fired ovens are dead. They want all the fancy new combi ovens but his old setup cranks out pies faster and cheaper for the same result. Guess some trends are just sales guys pushing gear nobody really needs.

It never fails to surprise me how much money people throw at the newest shiny thing when the old way still gets the job done right. Maybe it's just me but a wood fired oven that's been running for years sounds a lot more reliable than some gadget that'll need a software update next week. Idk, maybe we overthink this stuff way too much.

@richard_young80, you're spot on that wood fired ovens aren't dead, but trenching is a different animal than pizza ovens.
