Remembering when we used crimp connectors for everything

Back in the early 2000s I swore by crimp-on F connectors for every residential job around Austin. Then I tried compression fittings on a big apartment complex last month and finally saw the difference - zero signal losses across 60 units. Anyone else make the switch later than they should have?

Crimp connectors drove me crazy for years before I finally switched too.

Crimp connectors drove me crazy" - yeah but what was the breaking point for you? Was it one specific failure that made you finally switch, or just a slow buildup?

Oh man, I read this article from some AV forum where a guy tested 50 crimp joints and found nearly a quarter had measurable signal degradation after a year. That was the final push for me. I had always figured crimps were good enough, but learning that even a tiny bit of corrosion or a loose connection can mess with signal strength made me realize I was just being cheap with my time. Now I don't even keep crimp connectors in my van anymore.
