Spent 4 hours yesterday trying to fish a line through a wall that turned out to have a full, forgotten brick chimney inside it.
The homeowner just shrugged and said 'Oh yeah, the fireplace, I forgot that was there' after I'd already cut three access holes.

A full brick chimney?! How do you just "forget" something like that exists in your own house? After you'd already cut three holes! That shrug would have sent me over the edge, honestly. What else is just casually hidden in those walls?

Honestly, I get how you could forget. Old houses are full of surprises covered up by past owners. That shrug was probably pure shock, not carelessness. You find the weirdest stuff once you start opening walls.

Honestly, wade_kelly77 is right, old houses just swallow things up behind the walls.
