This old guy in a Denver apartment building told me his cable box was 'a portal to the 90s'

He had a perfect, dust-free setup with his original remote and a VCR still hooked up. He said he just liked the way the old menu looked and asked if I could make the new one work 'without all the fancy pictures'. How do you handle a customer who just doesn't want the upgrade?

I had a customer like that who refused a new smart thermostat. I just showed him how to turn off the Wi-Fi and use it like his old dial one. Sometimes you gotta find the middle ground where the tech works but doesn't get in the way. He was happy once it was just a basic box on the wall again. The trick is listening to what they actually use instead of pushing features.

Oh man, that reminds me of my neighbor who still uses a flip phone because he says it "just makes calls.

Ever ask your neighbor if he misses having a map or checking the weather on the go? I get wanting a simple phone, but some things are just useful.
