Tried using a $15 fish tape from Harbor Freight on a tough pull through a 2-inch conduit in an old Phoenix apartment building and it bent like a paperclip halfway through.
What's your go-to brand for a fish tape that can actually handle a stubborn pull without kinking?

Ugh, Harbor Freight tools are for toys. Get a Greenlee. That cheap stuff folds every time.

Man, @smith.elliot I feel that. I've had a couple of their cheaper tools just give up on me mid-job. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

That "you gotta know when to step up" part @theajohnson said is really the whole point. Honestly, I've noticed something nobody's mentioning: it's not just about brand or price, it's about how often you actually use the thing. Ngl, for something like a fish tape that most people use maybe 3-4 times a year, a Harbor Freight one is fine. But if you're running conduit every single week, yeah, spend the money on a Greenlee. Tbh, the real mistake is buying a cheap version of a tool you rely on for your main hustle versus a tool you grab twice a year for a DIY project.

Toys" is a bit harsh, I've had some of their stuff last for years. That fish tape is just a bad pick for a tough pull in old conduit. Sometimes the cheap tool is fine, but you gotta know when to step up.
