A customer told me my lens cleaning method was leaving micro-scratches

They pointed out my cloth was picking up grit from the bench. Now I always use a fresh microfiber from a sealed pack for each job. Anyone have a better system for keeping work surfaces totally clean?

Got a small air blower for my bench first.

Saw a video where a guy used one of those to clean out his keyboard. It was full of crumbs and dust. He also used it to blow sawdust off his work before applying a finish. Seems way better than using your breath or a dirty rag.

Remember those old film cameras? I used to have a little rubber bulb blower to dust the lens before a shot. It felt like a silly ritual, but it worked. Now I keep a similar one by the computer. It's perfect for clearing the scanner glass or getting lint out of a phone port without touching anything. Funny how the simple tools stick around.

Honestly, that whole sealed microfiber thing sounds like overkill and a huge waste. You're going through a pack for every single job? That's just creating trash and costing you money for no real reason. A quick wipe of the bench with your hand or a clean rag before you lay the cloth down solves the grit problem. The customer was right about the dirty surface, but your fix is way too extreme. Most of those "micro-scratches" they see are probably just smears from a cloth that isn't even dirty yet.
