Flexible shaft beat my modular screwdriver set
I carried a fancy modular screwdriver kit for years. Thought it was the best thing. Then a 1968 Pentax came in with a stripped screw buried deep. My bits just would not reach. Picked up a cheap flexible shaft from a local shop in Portland. Attached my regular bits and got in there in under 5 minutes. That simple tool did what my $120 kit could not. Now the flex shaft sits in my main drawer, the modular kit stays at home. Anyone else find a single cheap tool that outworks their whole lineup?

kinda like how the $5 screwdriver always beats the $50 one, simple stuff wins when it counts.

The same pattern shows up in cooking all the time. A cast iron skillet and salt can handle almost anything, but my kitchen drawer is full of gadgets that mostly just take up space. Cars are the same way, the ones without all the fancy screens and sensors tend to keep running forever. Even software, half the apps on my phone got replaced by the basic notes one because it just works. Simple stuff forces you to learn the basics, and the basics are what actually carry you through.
