He runs a small shop off State Street and when I brought in a shutter that was sticking, he just sat there dry firing it for two minutes and handed it back working. I kind of laughed, but then I went home and looked at my ticket log for March, and out of 47 jobs, 11 of them were fixed by a battery pull, a firmware reset, or just reseating the lens contacts. Cost of parts on those 11 was basically nothing, but I had spent hours tearing down bodies that never needed to come apart. So now I time myself on diagnostics before the screwdriver comes out, and it's cut my turnaround from 9 days to 5. Anyone else keep a rough number on how many repairs turn out to be nothing but a reset or a contact clean?
