PSA: Don't buy those cheap $15 sensor cleaning swabs on Amazon

I learned this the hard way last week. Picked up a 12-pack of generic cleaning swabs for like $15 thinking I was saving money over the $40 brand name ones. First try on a Sony A7III sensor, they left streaks and little fibers everywhere. Spent 3 hours trying to re-clean it with the proper stuff I had to order overnight. Lost $15 on the swabs plus another $30 on express shipping for the good ones. Anyone else get burned by knockoff cleaning tools?

A buddy of mine who does wedding photography warned me about this exact thing. He said the cheap swabs leave junk behind that can actually scratch the sensor over time. Lesson learned, spend the money on the real stuff.

Yep, been down that exact road. I snagged a cheap kit off Amazon once to save a few bucks and ended up with little fibers stuck all over my sensor. Took forever to get that crap off with a proper cleaning. The real brand name swabs are pricier but they're made way cleaner and have the right amount of solution so you're not leaving residue behind. Honestly, it's one of those things where you pay for the peace of mind that you're not gonna wreck a thousand dollar sensor. Just grab the good stuff from a camera shop and never look back.
