PSA: My $40 investment in a proper lens spanner wrench finally let me fix a stuck zoom ring without stripping the threads.
Has anyone else found a specific tool that changed how you handle a common, annoying repair?

How many times have I almost ruined a lens because I thought a pair of pliers and some cloth was good enough? I used to think a tool was a tool, but trying to force the wrong thing just makes a small problem way worse. Getting the right spanner is like the lens finally decided to talk to you instead of fight.

Absolutely, having the right tool is a total game changer. I stripped so many lens filter rings before I got a proper spanner wrench. It's like @robinp89 said about JIS screwdrivers, the right fit just works. You stop fighting the hardware and actually fix the problem. My cheap tools just made a mess, but the right ones let me save gear I thought was ruined.

Man, a good tool makes all the difference, right? I fought with stripped screws on old game consoles for years. Finally grabbed a quality JIS screwdriver set, not just a Phillips. I used to think all screwdrivers were the same until I stripped a PS2 screw. That JIS tip really does lock in perfectly.
