Shoutout to the guy in Austin who showed me his ultrasonic cleaner setup
I used to spend an hour manually cleaning shutter assemblies, but after seeing his results, I bought a small one for $150. Has anyone else switched to ultrasonic for certain parts, or do you still prefer the old hands-on method?

Austin guy must have a serious operation if he's cleaning shutter assemblies that way. I can't imagine putting a whole shutter unit in an ultrasonic bath. That feels like asking for trouble with the delicate blades and springs.

Yeah that sounds like a great way to ruin some tiny parts. What's he using for a cleaner anyway?

Seen guys try that before, always ends with tiny parts floating in the tank. Gotta strip it down to just the metal frame first.

Bought a cheap one off Amazon a few months back and yeah I was skeptical too @smith.elliot but you just gotta be real careful about what goes in there. I strip shutters down to just the metal parts and have had zero issues so far. The trick is using a parts basket so nothing touches the bottom. Still don't trust it for anything with electronics or glued bits though.
