Spent $80 on a lens spanner wrench and it saved my bacon on a stuck filter ring

Tbh I was trying to save a vintage 50mm for a client and that ring wouldn't budge with anything else. Worth every penny compared to the $15 Amazon kit I tried first. Anyone else find that cheap tools just make the job harder?

My local camera shop had one for like $120 that I always thought was a ripoff until I borrowed it for a stuck UV filter. Suddenly that $80 pricetag felt like a bargain compared to the $15 wrenches that just bent in my hands.

Cringed reading that, @jana769. I’d be furious if a wrench just bent like that, $15 or not. Sounds like that shop tool earned its price tag in one use.
