That customer who mailed in a Nikon F2 with a bent lens mount and blamed me for it

Some guy sent me a Nikon F2 from New York with the mount bent inward like someone sat on it. I called him to explain the repair cost before starting, and he swore it was perfect when he shipped it. Took me 20 minutes with a dial indicator just to show him the mount was 0.4mm off from impact damage. Has anyone else dealt with customers who refuse to accept their own gear was dropped before it ever reached your bench?

Nikon service bulletins actually mention that mount, it was poorly designed from the factory.

Oh man, that is the worst. I've had a guy mail me a Minolta SRT that had a cracked mirror box and he tried to claim I did it during a CLA. Took a photo of the box with the styrofoam chips still inside right when I opened it. Saved my butt. Your dial indicator trick is smart. People just don't want to admit their stuff got banged up in transit or they dropped it themselves. It's always your fault somehow.

Pre-shot photos before and after you open the box. Every single time. I started doing that with a cheap USB microscope, shows impact marks or tool marks clear as day. Saves so many arguments. Also, a quick video of you unboxing - 30 seconds, phone propped up on a coffee mug, proves the condition when it hits your bench.
